THE DAY WE FLEW THE KITES

My Beta Sigma Phi Chapter celebrated at our home the final meeting of the year with a Kite Flying Secret Sister Party. As you can see most of us have been drawing our social security for many years bur we still like to have fun! 

We had had rain for several days but it cleared that day just for us!

Sue brought the largest and most colorful kite!

But Esther our almost 90 year young member had the most success! We just didn't have enough wind!

There was a lot of talking to them but didn't do any good!

Some could still run! But that didn't help much either!

Even got the chargers out for a fancy table!

And made kites!.

Thought I'd show you what books I'm reading right now. Lovin Susan Branch's book 2nd in a series of 3.

Miss Read finally retires from teaching school in this book!

CREATING WITH FABRIC, PAINT AND WATER BOTTLES!

 I want to make some quilt blocks for The Kindness Quilt Block Project in Kentucky. The blocks can not be larger than 6" mine turned out a little over 7"!  So will try 1" squares next time!

My little dolls will be happy with it though!

Friend Hope and I do art projects with some of the residents at a local health care facility every other month. They seem to really look forward to it, and try hard at what ever we plan for them!

This month we introduced them to simplified Zentangle Designs to paint for their doors.

We would put down one color of paint at a time and have them pick 2 spaces in the design to paint that color.

Then we'd wash their brush and give them another color to use.

Husband Maurice gave me this beautiful blue and white pot and fern for my Blue Bottle Garden on  Mother's day. Black Catty "Othello" loves to take his naps here on the table

I'd been wanting to get a Chartreuse Hosta but hadn't seen any in our town till this spring. I bought 2 of them! After a few years I will divide them and have more!

These 3 big pots of impatiens were marked down half price for $5.00 each last week! Yeah!

Been watchin for the climbing Nasturtiums to pop up I plant a couple of weeks ago. Finally saw some in one of the pots!

I just love spending time my garden!

I'd been wanting to make these flower lights out of water bottles Finally did it!

They are so fun! Especially at night!

CREATING WITH CRYSTALS, GLASS, POTTERY AND PAINTS!

Got a bag of crystal prisms at a garage sale recently. Have had a lot of fun hanging them by fine wire around in the garden

I collect broken pieces of colored glass and mirror and pottery pieces for scattering in the paths in my Blue Bottle Garden. I enjoy the fairy fantasy like feeling it gives!

When the sun hits them they really glow!

I enjoy using old pieces of pottery in the garden also.

We recently celebrated Earth Day. So I got out my Earth Day painting I did of the porch at the Log Cabin we stayed at annually in Augusta, Mo. when we were going to the Spring Plein Air Painting Week. Friend Hope and I made the banner that year. I also collected the empty blue bottles at the breweries. That was the start of my Blue Bottle Garden

I attended a painting workshop in Harrisonville, Mo recently

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS!

Our Xi Iota Sigma chapter of Beta Sigma Phi enjoyed showing our umbrellas after a very informative and entertaining program about the origin and uses of umbrellas thru the years by Carol Russell (2nd roll end on right)

We also toured the church/community pantry to see where the food items we brought as a charitable project were stored.

In honor of the opening day for our Champion  Royals K.C., Mo Baseball team  I hung out the blue flags

As much wind as we have been having I'm surprised they are still up!

Mother & Daddy had lost a set of twins stillborn before me, so I can only imagine their happiness finally with a new baby!

I have saved calling cards for years! Make notes on them of what I bought there or when we stayed there and etc!  Great fun to look back and  reminisce!

My collection has come in handy more than once over the years too!
